Exactly who are the Fauxsters?

Well, they are Dan and Amanda Folster, a husband and wife Decorative Faux Finishing Team and faux finishing teachers from the Nashville, Tennessee area.  Dan is the accomplished artisan while Amanda is the artistic/creative side of the team. Upon meeting these two, you will immediately realize they have an exceptional relationship and amazing chemistry.  They are business partners, homebodies, clearly best friends, and without a doubt, proud parents!

Dan Folster’s background begins with the skills he learned from his dad, who is ranked in the Top 5 in the United States by Early American Homes Magazine for his woodworking skills; Kenneth Folster’s work is currently being displayed in the Smithsonian. (Yes, that was a shameless plug for Grandpa Folster!) Dan is also an accomplished woodworker having been trained in intricate carpentry, tile and hardwood flooring.  Dan’s background includes the restoration of areas of the oak flooring in the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, restoration of the hardwood floors in the home of Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, constructed television studio sets, theatre sets, room additions, buildings, and so much more.  These days he has turned his attention to perfecting faux finishing and has promptly re-set the bar for excellence in the field as any of their clients will attest to!

Dan & Amanda Folster

Amanda Folster a life long artist, began winning art competitions in grade school, and continued to do so throughout her adult life.  After winning a nationally sponsored business card design competition in 1993, she decided to begin painting murals professionally in 1994.  By 1997 she had discovered her niche with murals that included decorative finishes and textures.  To her credit, in 2002, Amanda, along with her husband Dan, founded Artistic Illusions Studio’s Faux Finish School, the first of its kind “hands-on” faux finishing schools in Tennessee.  Her background encompasses educator, entrepreneur, business advertising and marketing, competitive trail riding and horsemanship in several disciplines.

Dan and Amanda’s work can be seen on the HGTV shows “Homes Across America”, "Our Place", as well a weekly cable talk show Panorama with Henrietta, a Christian talk show produced in Ohio.  Publications of their work include Murfreesboro Lifestyle Magazine, multiple covers of Nashville House & Home Magazine, and numerous newspaper articles.  They have been commissioned to work on numerous Designer Showcase Homes, and Parade of Homes Shows, including the 2002 Parade of Homes held in the prestigious Governor’s Club. This dynamic husband and wife team is frequently commissioned to work in some of the largest and most expensive homes in Tennessee; for the famous and reclusive, for businesses and individuals.  They have consulted on and contributed to the completion of projects for clients such as Cover Girl supermodel Niki Taylor, the Pattons of Ingram Publishing, and the Gaylord Opryland Hotel’s Presidential Suite, just to name a few.
